[sitting on a bus’ rooftop, leaving towards Dhaka] This is aegaro (11), this is BR-aegaro paddy, that one, you see, is thinner: that is called pador paddy…
I can’t recognise the difference!
How should you understand which paddy is which! We have seen it all our life long, we are the children of farmers, that’s why we understand and can say what paddy is what. This too is aegaro… all these are aegaro. That is shaina paddy… these give very good small small rice corns, especially used for Biryani – it is sold at 80 Tk/kg in our village in Bogra. Everything is good in Bogra district… starting from the tea, to fish, rice, yogurt, sweets, everything… and then there are the fruits – it’s not the season for fruits now, but during the season, what jackfruit and mango we get to eat! …Rajshahi and Bogra are in the same division…we belong to Rajshahi division… our division is Rajshahi itself. I did say that: any time Elisa-apa goes to Bogra, I will show her the other side of Jamuna River one day. This time you visited this shore of the Jamuna, next time I’ll take you to the other side of the river.
